TEACHING:


Along with performance, Sara Maurno has nearly 20 years experience as an educator.  While working as a performing artist in New York, Sara kept her hand in teaching by working as as acting & audition coach and movement specialist helping actors develop character through body work.  She also work-shopped with corporate executives and attorneys  to help them hone their presentation skills.



PERFORMANCE ARTS:


Sara has more than 20 years experience in both stage and film in New York and Boston.  She has acted, produced and directed shows in Off-Broadway venues such as LaMama E.T.C., The Ensemble Studio Theater and the Soho Repertory Theater, to name a few.   Trained in the classics,  her roots are also in environmental performance art, working on and off stage with such cutting-edge Boston based theater companies as Theatreworks, under the artistic direction of Vincent Murphy and The Open Door Theatre of Jamaica Plain with artistic director Susan McGinley.  As a screenwriter, her script, The White Queen was chosen from thousands of submissions as a semi-finalist in the Writers Foundation’s Best Screenplay competition.

ON THE BOARDS:


In New York Ms. Maurno worked closely with Amnesty International to originate the role of Munereva in the multi-media production of Sarajevo Mon Amour, and created the role of Hika in the world premiere of Borderlands, also at the Soho Rep.  Other favorite roles include, Lucia – Mad Forest, Joan d’Arc – Chamber Music and the title roles in Yerma and Turandot.  She has also appeared in Mere Mortals at the Nora Theatre Company, Baby with the Bathwater at the Lyric Stage with the New Boston Repertory Theater, As You Like It; Romeo & Juliet; Guys n’ Dolls; R.U.R., DeDonde?  She also appeared with John Savage and Kevin Bacon in The Tender Age and most recently in the awarding winning film Last Ball which premiered in more than thirty film festivals in more than twenty countries.
